Projects promoting women enterpreneurs
WENETT Women Innovators for Europe
Over the next 2 years ( June 2006 – May 2008 ), the partners of the WENETT initiative will join forces with local support networks to inform businesswomen and women scientists ( Women Innovators ) about the benefits of building European cooperations.

WINNET
The objective of the WINNET Network will be to complement existing local and regional co-operation with a strong interregional cooperation in order to promote the role of women in local and regional development through the instrument of Women Resource Centres. EQUALITEC - Advancing Women in ITEC
EQUALITEC is a 3 year project funded under the EQUAL Programme from the European Social Fund running from 2004-2007. The Equalitec project aims to help women returners' access to the best opportunities through career information and advice. This service will be developed during July 2005 – June 2007.

Ambassadors for women and science - Use of best practice instruments to strengthen women in research - PALLAS ATHENE
The project would tackle the reasons identified to be responsible for the under-representation of women in higher positions. With the help of high-level scientists (ambassadors) the project shall stimulate the participation of women in science and technological development. The final goal of the project is to bring young female researchers in adequate starting positions to become senior managers and departmental leaders.

The report of the Women in Industrial Research (WIR) Expert Group, Women in industrial research -A wake up call for European industry , reveals the strong under-representation of women researchers in European industry, reaching a mere 15% on European average, and only about half the proportion in higher education. A series of case studies based on data supplied by companies themselves in response to a questionnaire sent out by the European Commission, members of the WIR Expert Group and the European Industrial Research Management Association (EIRMA).

The study was carried out by Austrian Institute for Small Business Research in Vienna in co-operation with members of the European Network for SME Research and other partner institutions. It provides an overview of specific actions and support measures adopted by national administrations in the Member States of the European Union and the EFTA/ EEA countries in order to promote female entrepreneurship, particularly in the fields of start-up, funding, training, mentoring, information, advice and consultancy, and networking.

The SME Environment consortium has committed to fulfill the following tasks:

Help women managers to develop projects under FP6/FP7 projects in the field of energy and environment.
-
At least 40% of all submitted proposals with the help of project experts will be prepared by women managers.
- Creation of a service package that is tailored to the needs of women managers.
-
The services will build on the experiences of previous projects aiming at increasing the participation of women in FP5/FP6.
In order to achieve the above scopes, the Regional Environmental Centre analysed the current situtation in gender mainstreaming and women participation in the FP6 Programme.
